The Simpsons (Arcade) Konami 1991
The Simpsons is one of TV's longest running shows. The show has spawned numerous games throughout the years, most of which have been fairly awful or simply mediocre. The best game is The Simpsons from Konami. It is your standard beat-em up, but there is plenty of great in-jokes for fans and the game play is rock solid. The plot follows Smithers kidnapping Maggie, after she mistakes a diamond for pacifier. Then the Simpsons family enters "Mike Haggar mode" to track her down for the rescue. Some levels come straight from the show like Moe's Tavern and the television station; and you can expect numerous cameos. The Simpsons was never ported to a home console. The game is perfectly emulated on Mame, and even allows for 4-players. Hopefully one day, this game will get a re-release on Xbox Live or even better a Konami beat-em up compilation...okay now I am really dreaming.
