Old Game Commercial: Tatsunoko Vs Capcom

Americans rarely get awesome game commercials. However, a few years ago, Capcom changed that with this little gem. It looks like Robot Chicken vs Capcom, and I am completely fine with that. Too bad this game didn't do too well, but fighters on Wii were doomed from the start.

Old Game Commerical: Super Mario Kart 64

Now this is a badass advertisement! I would love to see a cel-shaded Mario Kart in the style of this old commercial. This makes me nostalgic for the N64 and 90s anime. What happened to all the good kart racing games?

Old Game Commercial 06: Revenge of Shinobi & Super Monaco GP

This commercial just screams 1990s! Half-assed ninja combat? Check. Hyperbolic ranting that makes no sense? Check. Random pairing of two completely different games? Check. Revenge of Shinobi still stands as a pretty cool game in 2012, but Super Monaco GP is completely forgettable. Too bad the commercial didn't pair Shinobi and Phantasy Star 2 instead. I miss the old, crazy Sega from this era.

Old Game Commercial 05: Street Fighter II Champion's Edition

In the 1990s, Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat had quite the rivalry. This commercial highlights the competition between the two games, with Street Fighter 2 trying really hard to look more brutal than a game that allowed players to rip characters' heads off. Note how Blanka's hand comes out of the box to scare the shit out of an elderly patrolman. Pure awesomeness.

Old Game Commercial 04: French Mega Man 2

Apparently Japan wasn't the only one making really crazy gaming commercials during the 80s. In this French ad, a freaky looking Mario announces Mega Man 2, and then a clawed silhouette of Dr. Wily rants about...well who knows. To top things off, Mega Man looks like Ultra Man standing in the flames of Hell, then Mario farts. Enjoy!

Old Game Commercial 03: Super Mario World

I don't know how the Super Famicom survived after this ad. This commercial is utterly insane even for Japan. If you ever wanted to be freaked out by Mario, then watch this video. Say konichiwa to Bowser for me.

Old Game Commercial 02: City Connection

City Connection  isn't one of the best games in the NES library. However, if you watch this commercial for the Famicom version, you would probably think...is that even the same game?! Anime somehow makes everything better. Now I want an updated version with this chick in it.

Old Game Commercial 01: Rock Man 2

Mega Man 2 (or Rock Man 2 in Japan) is considered the pinnacle of the Mega Man series. Check out this old commercial promoting it's release in Japan. I love how the announcer says in loud Engrish, " ROCKO MAN TWO!" This is truly the Famicom at it's best and cheesiest.
